Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be Baptist?
No, BSM is open to all active students at SPC. We have students active in our ministry and even on our Leadership Team from a diverse background of denominations. Everyone is welcome.
Are you a church?
No, BSM is a partnership of local churches working together to reach college students. We want to connect you to a local church in addition to our ministry activities on campus.
How do I get involved?
Just start coming. We have no formal membership process. Come to our events and get involved with us. We have students from all across campus involved in the ministry. You can join our contact list here.
What kind of things do y’all do?
We have activities almost every day of the week: large groups, small groups, Bible studies, and socials. We have small groups for committed Christians and for those who are just investigating the Christian faith.
What happens at your building?
The Baptist Student Center is open Monday - Thursday for you to relax, study, meet friends and play games. We have comfy couches, a kitchen, ping pong table, a pool table, and a cabinet full of games. It’s a great place to hang out and meet people. We hope you will come by often!
How can I join Leadership Team?
The BSM Leadership Team is a group of about fifteen students who help lead and direct different areas of our ministry. This team works together with our staff to make sure 50 Cent Lunches, Worship, and campus outreaches are successful. Leadership Team is formed by semester, so check out the Lead Team page for more information!
Do you do missions?
We love missions! We do around three mission trips throughout the year. Check out our missions page for more information. Every summer, we send our fellow UTA students on missions through Go Now Missions.
What do you believe?
We believe in and promote the historic Christian faith as articulated in the Apostles Creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty, from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
